has anyone cut the bent part off a CAI, cause my dilemma now is that i don't have any fender plastic and my CAI is literally 5 inches away from my wheel and gets all the crap thrown from them. would this change anything with the ecu?

As long as it's before the MAF (which it is from your pic) I don't see an issue with it...

thats what i was thinking... i want it kinda tucked out of the way also. right now its just hanging there getting all the crap from the tire and held off the ground with chicken wire. all the brackets broke off just like the old ones always did!

Ha. I know a guy who has a bagged s10. He has a K&N filter coming directly off his MAF w/ no tubing becuase of the same thing. Good luck!

I cut mine to where it sits up where the factory air box was.

well im still looking to have cold air going to it, with it sitting in the engine bay its not getting as much cold air as if it were sitting on the ground practically. what youve done is basically made an extended SRI.

im going for it tomorrow, im bringing it to the shop for something else. and just going to have him take it out cut it and mount the filter on and bolt it back up after banging the crap out of the fins like dirt and crud

If you cut it there, the only thing supporting it will be the rubber boots. It's just going to be banging around in there. Maybe you could try a K&N precharger or drycharger? http://www.knfilters.com/search/wrap.aspx

Get a new inner fender, they are only $8.00 at rockauto, no need to hack up a perfectly good cai.
