Baffle or no baffle?

I've been searching through AutoTrader for a used 2012 Focus for a few weeks now and I've noticed that some have of them have a baffle over the engine block and some of them don't. This is the black piece that says "FORD DURATORQUE 2.0L" on top.

The first few I saw all had the baffle but one didn't. So I thought, uh oh, someone got the oil changed and they forgot to put the baffle back on!. But last night I was looking, and probably 9/10 didn't have the baffle either!

Then I thought "well maybe it only came on Titaniums..." But nope, 3 Tis and an SEL I looked at didn't have one, but an SE did.

So this question really has me "baffled". Is there supposed to be a baffle or not!?

If I end up buying one without a baffle, I'd like to be able to demand the dealer get one for me!

They originally came with titaniums but they stopped that. I don't think they come by default on any of the cars, and that it is an option

Duratec 2.0 L not DuraTorque, duratorque was the diesel engine we don't get in north america.

The engine cover was initially standard on early Job 1 Titanium builds, and possibly was installed on other models, but shortly afterwards they were removed due to cost but were still available over the parts counter for installation by the vehicle's owner, at least until or unless they run out of stock and have stopped making them.

So it sounds like if I want one and the car doesn't come with one, I'll be paying for it!

And yes, I much prefer the baffle look to the non baffle. Keeps everything clean and I'm sure it helps cut down on some of the noise.

I'd rather not have it...it makes it easier to keep an eye on things.
