Brake pad question

Ok, so this is the first time I decided to do my own brake pad replacement. The problem that I have is: after I got the new pads on and back on the rotor, I tighten up the bolts and the clip on the front pad won't snap into place, or if I loosen the bolts and snap the front clip in place then the bolts don't line up, what am I doing wrong?

I feel stupid for asking this, but I need to learn sometime

What clip?

I don't remember a clip.

Just the 2 bolts the go into the sliding pins.

The clip in the front, the one that holds the pad on that you can see

Now I remember.......

Do the bolts.

Then pry the clip over with a screwdriver.

This clip:

I tried prying it with a screwdriver, but it keeps popping right back out, and I see that the entire thing is not lining up, but somehow the bolts are tight. So when I get the clip on and the brake assembly is lined up, the bolts don't go in.

That looks different than my caliper...........

I have 4 lug wheels too...

But on mine, the part of the clip that's attached to the pad is on the outside of the caliper, and the other side is on the inside (disc side) of the caliper.

that is just a random internet pic, it was too dark to take a pic of my actual brake, I just posted that to show the clip that I am talking about.

Mine is a 2003 ZX5
