Honestly I was getting like 35 or so before I installed my scangauge, I usually take 78 to 309, and I stay slow and steady. Driving like a grandma and leaving 10 minutes early helps Lol Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using FF Mobile |

Fairly hilly east Texas interstate, 87 octane, and 1k miles on the ticker, I've noticed that ambient temperature makes a huge difference:
@60+ degrees Farenheit 65mph - 39~ mpg 70mph - 35~ mpg @30* Farenheit 65mph - 33mpg 70mph - 29mpg 50*F 70mph with 15mph headwind and 40mph gusts, 28~mpg (this morning, was freaking fabulous. Went from 34.0 mpg on the readout with 100 miles on the tank to 31.5 after 30 additional miles. :( )

MTX ~4000 miles at the time Guessing 70º for temp, on a ~45 mile trip from Santa Clarita, CA to Anaheim, CA (went to Disneyland), after resetting the MPG counter while turning onto the onramp, I got ~54mpg until I hit the 5/10/60/101 mess (I think.. couldve sworn what I was thinking of was further, but maybe not.. terrible memory). After some stop and go traffic I ended the trip at ~45 mpg. On the way home, I averaged high 30s. Both ways I typically stuck to the speed limit, which ranges from 55 to 70, though occasionally hit 80. This is going by the car, not hand calculated figures. Get these pretty consistently. No cruise control used. Ill have to figure out what I get when I take my 1400 mile trip from CA to TX in the spring. |

Yesterday, took my first road trip with the family in our new 2012 SEL with 6 speed dual clutch transmission. Had the cruise set to 65 mph, no wind, outside temp at 46 degrees. Got 38.3 mpg on the freeway on my 222 mile trip. Now waiting for the K&N drop-in filter to arrive today. I'll see if that will make a difference on the gas mileage.
