13, SE, 5M and my MPG is getting better. 15K on the car....80mph (OK, sometimes 90ish...will get FIRED if I am late...never been late in almost 16 years) to work 70mph home. 36 miles each way. 85% highway, 15% @ 55mph. Last tank was 36.9 MPG.... not bad for the 5M.

26mpg averaging about 80-90mph on highway trips with the pedal constantly down
Not sure why you are happy with that. Currently drive a Ford 500 at those speeds and am getting 28 mpg.

I suspect the computer is being reset and that is the instant readout. Doubtful that number represents anything longer term than a few miles.

On a recent road trip with under 5k miles:

2013 SE Hatch
DCT
Speed varies from 65-75 mph with slowing down going through small towns
89 Octane Fuel
38-38.5 MPG calculated by doing the math; was less on dash readout

I must also note that before I got to the point where the speed limit increased to 75 mph, my dash readout had gotten as high as about 39 mpg.

I have a 2013 S with a manual Trans. I am a contract currier I drive 300 miles a day in speeds from 30-70mph my average is 39 mpg and a high of 43 mpg. I drive varied types on road. This is on 87 octane.

I find it's terrain dependent. (My car has a K&N with snorkel delete.) This is with 87 octane regular.

On a trip with relatively flat terrain- Fairfax, VA to Princeton, NJ, I got 41 mpg. On a trip with hilly terrain- PA turnpike NE extension, I-80, 39 mpg.

Man, I must be doing it wrong.. I am getting around 35~36 mpg highway going around 70-75, with just a few hills. I also only have 600 miles on it, so hoping for a few MPG gains when I get a bit more miles. '13 Hatchback 5 speed Manual though, so the HB + Manual trans doesn't help me much. But oh she has quite a spirit!

I must be driving like an old bastard

I have a 2013 SE (200A) with the 5-speed manual. I commute to Boston twice weekly, about a 90 mile round trip, mostly highway at 65 mph on cruise with some creep and crawl mixed in. I get 37+ mpg short shifting it and basically driving it like a diesel--usually in 5th by 36 mph.

My other commute is 150 miles one way through Providence and then on the Mass Pike to the Berkshires. Lots of hills, with some long uphill grades. On the way out I get around 38.5 with the cruise set on 70 mph. On the way home downhill I've gotten as high as 43.1--but with the A/C on it is usually 41.5 mpg without having to think too much. No modifications other than 38 psi in the front tires and 36 rear which I monitor pretty frequently; I use 87 octane the cheapest I can buy.

Worst mileage I've gotten on my long commute was 33.9 driving like a lunatic with lots of downshifting, redline passes in 3rd gear, and driving north of 85 mph most of the way uphill. It wasn't one of my proudest moments.
