Just hit 4500 on mine and it's still shuttering around and clunking, almost stalls itself out trying to back up out of my driveway, and falling backwards on inclines is starting to turn into a bit of an annoyance... really wish I'd have done my homework and sprung for the ST or anything with a manual trans.

Hi kryptonitejesus,

I can assist by getting your regional customer service manager involved. To get started, send me a PM with your info (VIN, dealer, mileage, daytime phone number, and full name). I'll get to work on your case.

There is a lot of confusion on this and whether or not many are experiencing actual problems or just the result of a dual dry clutch design. Dodge is also having issues with the Dart's dual dry clutch tranny, and the CEO admitted the type of transmission is not something Americans are use to compared to a traditional automatic. VW has similar complaints with it's 7 speed DSG in Europe which is a dual dry clutch.

I have been told that though the Powershift is branded an automatic, in design it's actually a manual and functions like a manual and the clutch noise is the way it is, but having driven manuals before I can't say it sounded similar.

I am giving my car 1K to break in the green clutches, from there on I'll wait and see what happens.

2013 Focus Transmission issues

I am hoping to get some answers or hoping someone is having the same concern. When slowing down for a red light and then accelerating before coming to a complete stop the transmission slams into gear as if someone rear ended me. Also the other day I was out with my daughter shopping and when I came out to my car to leave the car started and I placed it into reverse but the car would not move. The engine would just revv but would not move. I turned the car off and tried again but nothing again. I then turned it off and let it sit for a few minutes and tried again before calling roadside assistance and it finally would move in reverse. I have not had it happen to me again but it worries me. Please help.

2013 Ford Focus Titanium in the shop...2 months old

I posted my issue on the Ford Focus Facebook page and was directed to post here. I have a 2013 Ford Focus Titanium which at around 600 miles showed signs of an issue. It would shutter, chug, make clanking noises and just not respond to the throttle at all. I took it into the dealership and they said they did a software update...which took 2.5 hours while I waited. I didn't even get out of the lot and noticed that the car was worse then it was before I took it in. Turned around and took it right back. This time I took the mechanic for a drive...obviously they didn't test drive the vehicle as they stated, because he was like, that's not right....duh!!! So, 2.5 hours later we go for another test drive and it's better, not completely right, you could still feel a shutter and hear the clutches clanking around in 1st and 2nd, but the mechanic said it was more acceptable...to who?! Anyway, I took the car home and about 3 days later it was back to the shuttering, chugging, the clanking in all gears and just really unsafe to drive in traffic, because you never knew when it was going to go or not. So that brings us to now...it is in the dealership awaiting parts, that could take up to 4 months to get in...there was oil in the "DRY" clutch...everything has to be replaced according to the service department. My husband and I have talked to the dealership's general manager about trading the car for a different car, make & model, all together. It's not right that I have to pay for a car I can't even drive and it's only 2 months old with a little over 1300 miles on it. Well, the manager said they would trade it, but we would have to eat about $7,000 to get into a new car. They won't give us what we paid for it. My husband brought up the "Lemon Law", they just got quiet on that one. So we were waiting for a phone call from the GENERAL MANAGER yesterday, but guess what? No call!!! So, does anyone know what our options are at this point? Even if they replace the clutches and seals, what are the odds of this occuring again? The loaner car they gave me was brand new off the lot, the SE model without the select shift option and it was driving just fine, but I noticed yesterday I was hearing a lot of clutch noise I haven't heard before and some hesitations in 1st and 2nd. It's got 230 miles on it.

Okay, my new car (2013 February built - just have 120 miles on it) started to have rattle type transmission noise between 2nd and 3rd gear under light acceleration. Do I need to wait for the end of the break-in period for the noise to be diminished or do I need to take it to dealer?

The dealership is going to tell you to keep driving it...600miles until the break in period is over, but when my car was at 1000 miles, they said the same thing. I would take it in and go for a test drive with the mechanic. Other wise they do software updates and tell you to keep driving it. If that dealership doesn't want to help you call another one. We had to do that too.

The crazy thing is that I paid just as much for my Titanium as I would have for the ST that was there on the lot!!! I feel really stupid!
