We had this also. They said the glue was sub par. The dealer did fix it right the first time for us.

i had my headliner fixed back in the Spring...dealer completely replaced it after getting the OK from Ford. Everything was fine until about 3 weeks ago, the rattle has returned and you can tell the liner is once again becoming detached from the ceiling. anyone else have this issue? would they have used the same sub-par adhesive for the fix?

It would appear so. I just put some of that foam window insulation stuff (that comes in the roll, NOT the expanding stuff from a can) around my sunroof. If you don't have a sunroof, then good luck!

That is ridiculous you had to do that. I HOPE Ford is monitoring your post. It is a new car for jeepers sake.

I'm not sure that will fix my problem...you can feel where the glue has come undone from the liner all the way up to where the ceiling meets the windshield

Actually, I think it can. There were two ways to fix the rattle:

1. Reattach the headliner.
2. Keep the headliner away from the hot glue so that it doesn't rattle. (My rattling was actually just tacky glue, but yours could be a loose microphone/dome light wire?)

I went option 2 - which is kind of ghetto. But hey, it stopped the rattling? I also stuffed a couple of pieces of seat cushion foam in the front by the visors and microphone. I probably should have put some pictures on here for you guys?

The attachment is done in places at least with a heavy-duty velcro-like product. It's possible the two Velcro sides detached from one another so maybe you could push them back together. Not likely, but maybe worth a look.

True, the rental Focus I had had one of the pairs of 3M Dual-Lock (mushroom head Velcro stuff) undone from the factory that I snapped back in. That should obviously be your first point of attack - even before the dealer.

Mine had that problem where it sounded like an adhesive kept coming undone and the headliner rattled in front of my sunroof (even worse if the sunroof was open). I took it in to the dealer and had it fixed.

To my surprise, they even took it upon themselves to fix every rattle I had. Two techs took my car for a drive, one driving and one sat in the back seat. They took it down some bumpy roads and isolated them all. My car is nice and quiet again and sounds like the day I got it inside.

Did they replace the entire liner?
