Intake manifold replace - hose help

I am putting my cosi manifold on today. So far, it has been a bitch, to say the least. You might as well forget about the instructions. ANYONE can put a manifold on when the engine is out of the car and no sensors are hooked up (thats how the cosi instructions are).

Ok, onto my help. I have all bolts removed, egr removed, dipstick removed, the intake can almost be pulled out. HOWEVER, there is a hose/valve just behind the throttle body. The hose goes back into the firewall. The valve? looks like a plastic elbow. How in the HELL do I get this thing off the intake manifold? There is no clip holding it in. I have tried prying it off, twisting it off, and I pulled...and pulled ...and pulled some more. That thing wont budge. This is the last, small piece i need to remove to get my intake out.

So what is this thing and how to ai get it out/off?

it is the brake servo vacuum line. It will NOT come out. I ust broke the plastic, red tab.

its out. Broke the red plastic ring. No way that thing was coming out any other way.

If u r going n/a I would suggest put on a spacer between the head and manifold the mani gets really hot without it

just to let you know, it comes out nice and easy but yanking on it wont get it out. that red thing is a clip, pull up on the hose then pop the clip up with a small flathead

took me a while to figure that one out, almost broke it too

I pulled the clip up with a flathead....it came up about quarter inch. Then I pulled the line out and it wouldnt come out all the way...thats when I had to yank.

As for the intake getting hot....I am not concerned about that. The incoming air heated up in the stock intake and heats up even more when it enters the head. Thanks for the heads up though.

hmm maybe some combo of clip and pulling. maybe pop the clip before pulling up? anyway too little too late now lol. hopefully someone will search and find this in the future

As long as you dont damage the oring, its fine. I have to tap it into the new fitting with the oring with a deadblow hammer.

You guys are crazy............Push IN on the clip and the hose releases instantly, it's a quick release fitting. No need even to take it apart. When on assembly line the assembly tech simply pushes hose in and it locks. There are small teeth inside that grab hose, pushing ring in releases them.

You can find same type fitting at Home Depot in plumping department but Ford in its' infinite wisdom has made sure to use bastard one off size so not easily replaceable.

I first used a white plastic AC/fuel line removal thinking the red clip needed to be pushed down...didnt work. Thats whey I pulled it up and it popped out.

Looks like one person says push, the other says pull.

Regardless, its out.
