Question 2012 Focus Titanium 18" Tire Search

My OEM tires on my 2012 hatchback Ti with handling package are about done. So I have been reading this forum, and researching tires on Tire Rack. The posts on this forum have been very helpful. I have a list of a bunch of tires I am considering. I have winter tires, so I'm not looking for all season tires. I would like a tire similar to what came with the car - 18" performance tire, but it sure would be nice if I could get more miles out of them. I found this article on-line, it's a year old, but it was very helpful.

I am now leaning towards the Continental ExtremeContact DW, which Tire Rack currently has for $157 a tire. So I have a couple of questions for you all:

Does anyone have these tires? Have you gotten a lot of miles out of them?

Is this a good price for this tire? Do Continental ever go on sale or have rebates?

I would definitely go with the DW. I have the DWS' on my Focus and my Mazda 3 and love them! Just sold a guy two more Michelin Pilots today at $277 each OUCH!!

I wish you lived closer to St Louis, I have four Michelin ps3 taken off my TI with 11 miles on them. I'll get around to selling them someday.

While I don't have these, I have driven on every 1 of these tires in this test, on the exact same course they used for the Car and Driver test (they used our track)

I have no problem with the DW tire. It has been a consistently great tire and usually one of the best priced options you can get. This would be the exception though, I would have you look into the S-04 Pole Position by Bridgestone. Normally they are priced up there about $40 more /tire or so but their price has dropped lately and they are actually $3 less than the DW.

I like them better in pretty much every category. Wet traction, dry traction, smoother and about the same longevity. It's always been my 1st or 2nd pick of best summer tires out there (Michelin Super Sports being the best) But when I look at price and performance, I would take the S-04 hands down in this case.

Hope this helps, but let me know if you have any questions or need anything.
