Yeah, just look around at some sites. I've found mufflers for around 65 bucks that were magma flow. A free thing to do to get a little noise is cut the muffler off right under the rear bumper too. You can find sound clips all over the place for it. It's the "lunchbox mod" gives you a little free sound, it's not to loud.

If you want to get audio components, check out vminnovations.com. I ordered a 2 Kicker 12s in a box, plus an amp, and wiring for a little over 300.
Good deals can be had there. |

I'm 16, so I know what exactly where you're coming from. I got the Stereo Cliron Head unit, Kenwood KFC-C5794PS front speakers, I have the sedan, Two Kenwood Exceleon 10" woofers with the matching amp for $1400. Since 2000-2004 models are Double DIN the head units they are more expensive, if you only have $200 I suggest just going for the head unit for that you can get AUX and/or USB inputs for an MP3. Also, bumble21 is right the factory speakers are not that bad (my 2000 was louder than my friends' 2010 Civic) along with an aftermarket head unit should push more power to them. Plus in all honesty just a muffler, if you lucky, will add 5 Hp along with lots of noise, in other words tickets. Go for the stereo.

sorry guy it won't add anything as far as horse power, zero, zilch, nada...the name muffler means to do exactly that muffle the noise coming out of the exhaust. thats like that quote i say a while ago (so if i put a spinner on my butthole and rip one, will i run faster) the answer is no...

Yeah I agree with ^ muffler won't add to your performance. Basically just a noise thing. If you add an exhaust you should probably add a cai or a higher flowing intake. The factory exhaust is made for the factory intake so if you don't have more comin in then a bigger exhaust won't really so much. Especially with the restrictive exhaust header.

I would also suggest getting a radio and such if your that steadfast on spending it lol, but honestly if I were you I would try to save it as much as possible and save more until you have $500 or more and then look into getting some mods and such that way you dont spend the money and later on wish you hadnt, shop around to get ideas of how much you want to spend on each mod and then make yourself a plan of priority of what you want, worst thing you wanna do is spend money on something and then not like it

dude i can shit 5hp k. a muffler is only good for increasing the exhaust note over the oem one, you want actual power added to the car get a cai, new aftermarket header i.e. svt, obx...cams, cam gears, rods, pistons, hell even 1turbofocus has a flash device that will add power and torque...but going back to the OP's post save your money on the muffler, cut the lunch box off the end of your existing exhaust, find a good pawn shop deal on some audio stuff and call it good
