So just because you have the grille shutter system you assumed you have an SFE? Yeah, no, and 40 MPG under certain conditions is not surprising with this car, with or without the active grille shutter system.

So you have an early build car with the shutters that was not an SFE, so the press materials were lying. Your car is not an SFE.

lol i got 48 mpg just b'sing on the highway the other day. wasnt even trying to get that high. saw the number and was like wtf.... haha but yea. there would be other tale tell signs of having the sfe. but i would want those hubcaps tho...

To the OP... Post pics of your car and real data off the ETIS system or this is getting closed. You're way off on most of your assumptions and info.
