Unhappy Well today is the day my Focus goes back to Ford

So after months of arguing with ford and after filing a lemon law suit, today is the day my car goes back to Ford. In an hour it belongs to Ford again. Funny because I have mixed emotions about seeing it go. Sure it has a ton of issues and they drove me crazy, but I still loved it. I love my new car too and all the electronics work well, but they do not do all the cool stuff the Focus did. So as bad as MFT is, it is superior in features to many cars out there.

I really was planning to replace my car with a 2013 Focus, but got such a great deal I just could not justify the risk of getting another car with issues.

For those of you who are still having major problems, don't give up. Keep taking the car back to the dealer. Ask about a loaner, I always got loaner cars when mine was in the shop. You have to ask because they will not volunteer a loaner to you. If the problems still exist file a claim with the BBB, you never know what will happen.

MFT might be buggy, but trust me you will not like another car's infotainment system like you did you MFT. So although it is buggy, it is still pretty superior to others.

Good luck everyone and enjoy your car even if it has a few issues.

These two statements hit the proverbial nail(s) on the head.

So what did you end up getting?

I ended up getting a Kia Optima. I was not even planning to look at them, but it is a really nice car. Shares a platform with the Hyundai Sonata 20.t. This is not my car, but it is exactly this car. same color and everything except the pin strip.

not a bad looking replacement. i worked for Hyundai for 3 months this year. they have their issues too. most common that i am sure you will run into is the brake light switches needing replacement almost yearly.

Now that is very interesting... almost ALL of my MKIV VW's (three Jetta's and a Golf) all needed replacement brake light switches... and in most cases, you couldn't start the darn car with a bad switch, since, the ECU wouldn't let you start the car without pressing the brakes... and of course, with a bad switch, the car didn't know if you were or not. It took VW a few years to sort that mess out.. since, the "replacement" ones were identical to the "bad" ones... good grief.

I am hopeful to not have any drama with this car. So far, so good. I have been such a loyal Ford owner for so many years that this is the first non-Ford I've owned. My wife has had a Mazda and a Lexus, but my cars and trucks have always been Fords. I have mixed emotions about it, but in the end the Fusion and Focus had terrible terms and so I had to pass.

I'm a Ford lifer too (so far), and I just want to say I don't blame you, man. That Optima is a sharp car too--good luck with it!

I like the Kia's level of standard equipment, but we got. . .something else.

I'm just a lurker around here until December hopefully, but I'm sad to see all the problems people are having with the Focuses, especially MFT and the DCT.

Our family recently traded in a Honda Pilot on a Kia Sportage SX after eliminating the Honda CR-V from the list. I must say, for the same price as the CR-V AWD, you get the turbo power, a panoramic room, cooled seats, navigation with backup camera, and a keyless system. We've had a few problems with it so far, with relatively low mileage, but it does get great gas mileage for the power. I wish you the best with your Kia, and keep coming back to update everyone how your TGDI is doing! Hopefully I'll be a full-time member by your next update!

Wow. When I started having so many issues with my Focus and having to go to the dealer so often that they know me on a first name basis now. I had HUGE regrets that I didn't go with the Kia Optima. I occasionally look at them on Ebay (usually lots of pics). WOW. Close to the sticker on my Ti and way more power, Leg room, Plenty of loaded options and best of all none of the issues we have with DCT and MFT. :)

Enjoy it!
