How hard is it to install a set of lowering springs?

Ive seen a couple threads about springs being put on, and i just went surfing my local craigslist and found a guy in my area selling a pair of new eibach sportlines for 50 bucks, so i decided to jump on it. Should i take it to a shop or is there anyway a moderatly car savvy person could put these on themselves?

Sportlines for a 2012 Focus? Not just any set of springs is going to work.

As long as the springs are designed to work with your mk3, the install isn't to hard. Just time consuming. Took me a few hours because the slip struts ford use are a pita! Lol

Taking it to a local shop they usually charge $80-$100 per wheel so you'll end up paying around $400 for the install (not worth it). I'd try to see if theres another person on the FF forums that lives around your area if they can help you out. Thats what i did

lol ur kidding right ? at my shop we charge arround 100-150 for the whole job depending of how much time its take, its not very expensive u just gotta find the right shop, that all

Invest in one of THESE, and a big deadblow hammer (don't use a solid hammer or mallet) and the job will go much smoother.

I've done spring and suspension installs on a variety of vehicles, and the Mk3 Focus is definitely not the toughest job I've done. It just requires some attention to proper procedure.

Regardless, a spring install is not a job that I would recommend to the novice mechanic. Torque specs are critical, and you're dealing with components that, if installed incorrectly, can kill or injure yourself and others. Just keep that in mind.
