Aaaand a third thread I'm answering with nearly the same information. I've had this problem, as well, and like my other issues the service manager has said "it's expected".

What, exactly, is not expected in this vehicle? Every single time I've taken the car in for something it's been denied and I've been told it's working as expected. Not one time has a service department done anything to my car.

But they did fill the windshield wiper fluid reservoir. How thoughtful of them.

Well I already talked with Ford CSR regarding 'conviction bias'. It is a very interesting psychological paradigm which I believe can be easily applied in this case. There is no denying that DCT operates very differently then normal automatic and for probably 90% of customers it was an education that solved most of the 'issues'. But then when you 'convince' yourself that you can solve this issue by 'educating' you naturally become ignorant of anything else that does not fit your reasoning.

You never did a burnout or anything in a stick shift car? LOL! Hot brake pads and burning clutches smell similar. I am pretty familiar with the smell of burning kevlar, which is what I am smelling when my Focus gets the beans by either passing someone at highway speeds or trying to climb a good size hill or high speeds. So I get the feeling that it isn't normal to have any clutch slippage under engine load.

Mine had that smell once, and I noticed it after pulling away from a light with no other cars around me. hasn't done it since though

I smelled it on my test drive yesterday.
It was some sort of a burning smell when I was driving around. I didn't accelerate hard or brake hard or anything like that. It just randomly came into the cabin but went away after a few minutes and never happened again

lol, i guess i just got it into gear quickly. Maybe I just never had a big enough engine.
