need help ASAP on making automatic shift manually
i just finished a new race car, its a 2006 ZX5 with an automatic. i need to make it shift manually so it quits shifting at the wrong times. ive done this on Dodge's before wiring switched into the transmission harness, and im assuming theres a way to do it on most newer electronic transmissions?
on a side note, a friend that i race with has a Ford Escort ZX2 and he read on a forum to just disconect the wiring harness and it will do what i want and also raise the line pressure. well he did it and it worked great on his car, i dont know if thats something i should try or can it risk damaging stuff?

Have you considered just changing the shift parameters in the tune?
I think if you unplug the harness from the trans, you will have no transmission function at all. This trans is 100% electronic control, all solenoids, not springs and hydraulic pistons. |

right, so a "manual" valve body won't work in this case/is not available.
I believe you could manipulate the solenoid by wiring specific ones but it would take a little bit to figure out exactly how to tie it in with, say, a ratchet shifter.

A tune should do what you need , you can set shift RPM and PSI to do what you want

![]() I would get with 1turbofocus and see about some tuning. Changing the shift points is what you would need and he'd be able to help with that. |
