hood struts?

anyone know if anyone is developing these for our cars? never really liked the prop. i think it provides a cleaner look if you're showing off your engine bay at a show / safer when you're working underneath the hood.

sometimes the prop gets in the way / gets knocked. i've tried searching, but have come up with nothing for our cars.

Redline tuning is currently developing a bolt on application. Should be available in a couple of months.
I have a set on my Mustang. They are excellent.

yes, why i thought about it. mustangs i've owned had one and i'd like to ditch the prop on the focus as well.

i guess i'll keep checking and maybe bump this thread when they do come out and i get a set.

working around a prop is bothersome to me and also dangerous if i accidentally knock the hood off of it.

If you're any good at engineering these yourself (The '12 Focus looks pretty challenging) you can buy all the parts you need at McMaster-Carr. I bought & installed several setups for previous cars there. I'll probably be waiting until the temperature in my garage is more bearable before starting on this project.

Redline's products look nice, but that price is RIDICULOUS! Honestly, I did this on my '03 Sentra SpecV and my 06 Mustang, and it's not complicated and it's very inexpensive. It's hard to see in this pic, but it's just 2 struts that I bought from an RV repair facility and the mounting hardware for them. I think I spent MAYBE $30. Took about 15 minutes of trial-and-error to get the right spot for them, then I just drilled holes and riveted them in. Sorry, I don't have a pic of them on the Mustang...

D'oh, why haven't I thought of that before? I practically live on McMaster-Carr.

I guess I've got a new project.
