New Here

Hey guys. New here. I'm looking to get my hands on an SVT focus. Mostly for a DD. Ive got 2 mustangs and a C5 vette which unfortunately are all V8s. The vette isnt so bad on gas but want to keep the miles off of it since I do 50 miles one way to work. So if any on in here can point me in the direction of a decent svt under $3500 (either 3 dr or 5) that would be awesome. Ive searched CL already and should be getting up with a few people in the next week or so to check theres out. Hope to get together with some of you guys soon. Thanks!

Welcome to the forums!

I havent seen any killer deals around Socal lately on a SVTf, but ill post up anything I find.

You may also consider a 2.3 focus. You can find them from 2003-2007 models, and while they may not have the aggressive looks and sporty interior of the SVT model, they definitely have the better engine (more reliable, better torque, responds better to bolt-on mods, etc).

Actually, here is one that has the SVT focus Recaro seats:

Looks like it might need a bit of TLC, but with some new suspension/exhaust/cai, that can be a fun lil car.

Thanks man. I do prefer an svt simply for looks and the branding. Performance isnt a big deal for me out of this car. Ive found that was in rough shape with 194k miles, got the guy down to $2200 but I was only looking to dump $1700 on it. Seems like everyone wants over kbb value for an svt. Is this a common trend?

Keep an eye out on high-milage SVTs. The SVT has an interference engine and a timing-belt, so its critical to make sure that the timing belt is done every 70k miles or so.

On the whole, the SVT engine is just a bit more demanding and finicky than a regular zetec or duratec focus, so if you plan on buying one with over 100k, just be sure to be proactive about maintenance.

Thanks for the heads up. Ill keep an eye out for that. Does it do something specific if the timing belt is neglected?

If the timing belt snaps while the engine is running, you are almost guaranteed to need a new engine. which is why its so vital to change.

There's an option to check at the bottom of the message about making a copy...that tripped me up, too.
