Huh. I'm not sure man. I guess the next step is to have a mechanic listen to it. See what a professional thinks.

Low on any fluids? I think you said it was a bit low in oil? If it was too low on oil I think it would have died by now.

Any of the drive pullies wobbling? The tensioner could be bad? Expanding to much when the engine revs? Turn the ac on and see if you get the same sound.

Like I said. I'm no engine or car expert so some of this may sound dumb or naive. Just trying to help. :)

Yeah im not sure. Im stumpped. Fluids are fine now, I added oil earlier to see if it helped any. Regained a little of the power lost but still making the noise and its still sluggish. I was driving home last night when it happened. Going around an on ramp, it started to kind of die out a little then the oil light came on for a second and went off then started making the noise

If the oil light came on and then went off you may have starved it. You could have turned hard enough for a few seconds and the oil went to the opposite side of the pan where the pump draws from. I know the SVT contours had this problem. I think hard right turns starved the engine of oil.

I guess I'm out of ideas as well. I would take it somewhere and see what they tell you. It really sucks when stuff stops working right.

I just thought about this possibility. You could have "burned" the oil. How dark is it? Maybe a simple oil change can solve your issue? I know my sunfire got really low on oil once and the oils was black. I changed it and everything has been fine since. This was probably 2 years/40k ago.

I might try that, it was pretty dark. Next thing I was planning on checking out was draining the oil and possibly dropping the pan to check things out

Did you figure this out? Mine literally just started doing this. Loss of power and there is a loud knocking noise. It was low on oil I put some in and it got quieter. But it soon came back. Pressure is fine and levels are fine. I don't know anymore.

No man. Never figured it out. And that just sucks! I only went as far as pulling the plugs, valve cover and draining the oil to check it out. couldn't really see anything out of the norm. So im not sure
Think I decided im just going to sell the car as is. Don't want to get rid of it but don't have many other choices right now

Did you decide to sell the car?

Mines been parked for a couple weeks and I'm gonna slowly build the engine for a future turbo.

I like it! It would look sleek with the clear instead of amber marker covers.

Yeah, decicde to sell it :( dreading it and putting it off but I got to. Couldn't drop the pan like i planned because I couldn't get the bolts to the cat to break loose and didn't feel like stripping and or breaking any bolts or studs. So its been sitting. Have to give it a bath and put it up for sale soon
