Handling Package on the 2012 Titanium

Can someone explain to me, other than the 18 inch five spoke wheels and the low profile tires, what is in the handling package? And what changes happen in sport mode, other then the shift points?

We also have a new 2012 Mercedes Benz GLK350 here. When you select sport mode while sitting still - you hear and feel the car change (car feels like you just pulled it into drive from neutral).

With the Focus, I notice nothing more than it winds all the way up to 6,500 rpm before shifting.

Different springs. Sport mode is the same in all Titanium's with DCT.

The Handling package is 18" wheels, stiffer suspension components, a full-size spare, and limiter on the steering to accommodate the wider wheels, which makes the standard 36' turning radius a 40' radius.

The transmission is the same on any Focus with SelectShift. It will hold a lower gear longer, never automatically shift into 6th, and will downshift when you tap the brake if there are available revs.

Since the difference has been covered, I'll throw this in, I love the handling package. My wife's 2012 Focus Ti with the Titanium handling package is a blast to drive. It corners amazingly well for a little econo car.

Overall I like the package, the biggest downside is the ridiculous turning radius. I think a school bus would have a tighter turn.

Have you driven a focus without the package? I wonder if there is much difference because my SEL handles very well too.

Yup. Even my last SUV had a 36' turning radius.

I know I said I'd do it a long time ago... but I might check for steering limiters when I swap my tires now that winter is coming along again. (If I ever get a free weekend!)

lmao @ VectorZ, you are correct my friend. the turning radius sucks. I can live with it as a trade off but I do agree.

GoldenHour, I did drive an SEL and to me the titanium handling package seems to perform noticeably better but that could vary person to person an depend on how hard you drive the car too i guess.

Also, the suspension is stiffer with the handling package. To me it still rides great but my trucks that I drive daily are lowered so I probably have a TOTALLY different opinion on what rides good than most people do.

Final note, my wifes focus with the handling package handles better than my neighbors Sentra SE-R spec-v
