Hello all,
Looking for some suggestions as to what could be the cause. After a very rainy day and high winds, I noticed a pretty big puddle of water on the driver side floor. It was that deep that the water started sloshing about when the car was moving. I checked everything else and it was bone dry. There was no water on the inside of the driver side window or windscreen. The glovebox and panel behind it was also dry so I've no idea where it could be coming from. I've checked online and it seems to be a common problem caused by a bulkhead, hole in the wheel guard or a leak in the radiator system. It's been raining again today although nowhere near as bad and there doesn't seem to be any fresh water. Should I take this straight to the garage? Cheers |

My first thought is to check the bottom of the door to make sure the drain holes are clear. Checking for a sloshing sound inside the door will help you diagnose if these drains are the issue. Do the same for the rear passenger, in case the issue is there and the water has flowed forward to your feet.
The AC drain would be the alternative thing to check, if the doors are okay. But enough water to slosh around during a rain storm in the middle of October doesn't really sound like the AC drain. It's just a CYA thing to check that might end up saving you a bill from the mechanic. |

I had a listen for sloshing sounds when I was out driving today and couldn't hear anything.
When you mention the drain holes, where am I looking? Directly under the door when it's open? Cheers! |

Correct; on my car there is a little black plastic rectangle shaped plug on the bottom of the door, towards the front end of the car. It pops out to expose a 2 inch long drain hole.

Very common issue. Usually due to the seal failing on the passenger side window cowl. Take a look and see if it's loose or not fitted properly.
