airbox

I just installed a K&N drop in filter. I have never seen an airbox that was so hard to get all lined back up right. It must have taken me twice as long as it normally does.
im doing this all in steps. i wanna see what makes more difference. I just added the K&N, next step is the Newmission mod, then a catback(prob MagnaFlow).

Same here, I had to take mine back apart 3 times to finally get it back together correctly.

I don't understand what the issue is, but I found it very easy. Four bolts for the air box lid, ok so I took off the front battery tray cover/ lid to get better access to the rear bolts, but it just lifted off, pull the O.E.M. filter off, noting that it had alignment notches where as the K&N did not, pop the K&N over the MAF tube and slot it into the retaining slot on the end of the air box, then bolt the lid back on. It took a few minutes, but most of that was dawdling on purpose just enjoying working on such a nice and new car.

if you look at the upper and lower 1/2 of the air box... on the upper 1/2 there is a channel and on lower a part that goes into the channel. it has to be put on at a certain angle for it all to line up right. trust me, iv put K&N filters in every vehicle iv owned since '89 and this was the worst one to get lined back up, but i still love this car.

I didn't find it that difficult, but maybe that was just me. Also that was over 4500 miles ago now.

I've found it's easiest if you slide the right side on over the filter first then work your way from there. I wouldn't say it's a difficult task, but it definitely fits tight.
