New to second gen

Well, i have owned my 02 ZTS for a couple of years now and i thought it would be nice to upgrade and buy a newer car with lower millage and the sync system being as i do alot of talking on the phone. So i bought an 08 SES. I did some research on this car before buying it and it seems the options are strange in some ways. You can get a sun roof but no LED lighting inside and visa versa, but one thing i noticed is on my center dash display, you know the one for the radio/sync etc that on the far right corner there is a section for out side temperature. On my car it doesn't do anything. I tried to find out in the owners manual how to activate it or get it to work and it don't say anything about it. Does anyone know about this feature? I would like to make it work somehow.

Actually, there was a long thread about this. But we found out that it isn't really cost effective to find the parts and buy them. And dealers has no clue what we are talking about. Most of the time they just recommend a mirror that only has the compass and disables your use of sync.

Let me find that thread and see. Also, if you want to try this yourself, you can. I don't remember where the compass is but the external temp gauge is in the mirror. But we are pretty sure that it all hooks up into the head unit.

Here it is! Click me! Click me!!

Thanks for the link. I read through the whole thread/post and i was able to find out quite a bit of information. but no one has broken the find yet. But it boils down to we need to find/look at a car that has the temp and compass feature working. Then we need to find where the sensors hook/plug into and where the connections are located and then look at a wiring diagram and then i think we can crack the safe. I know that on most cars that have the temp feature, like the ford explorer and Chevy cars and trucks, the sensor for the temp is usually located up in the front of the car behind the grill and the compass is built up under the rear view mirror. But it could be different on the newer focuses. We just need to keep researching. Like i said. someone is bound to crack the safe as i say.

Yeah. If you didn't see it yet, I went on a spree. I am going to see about getting a 10+ head unit and seeing what it does there. Then i have to find the sensors on those models. But I am working on it! Gunea Pig? This guy!
