Playing with overdrive-cancel

I drive an SE hatch without the sport package, so I don't have SelectShift. I've been a little disappointed with not having that as I've driven a manual transmission for a long time. This week, I tried playing with the overdrive-cancel button. It essentially keeps the DCT out of 6th and downshifts during coasting and braking to reduce your speed on a hill. It holds gears a little longer too. Sounds a little like 'S' mode huh?

So I've been driving with overdrive off in town and flipping it back on on the highway to get best fuel economy. This has made be quite a bit happier considering I can't control when gears shift myself.

So I'd suggest trying this to other people without SelectShift who are upset with their shift points. Can anyone with 'S' mode compare their behavior to what I've described?

Alan

Sounds just like S-mode for us with SelectShift.

This has been covered before- it's just sport mode with a different name. Minus the ability to shift it yourself sadly but I'll take what I can get.

Sounds like our "S" Mode, minus the ability to shift. Better than nothing!

Hmmm. Didn't know this has been covered before. Where's the thread?
