Blows heat when set to cool air

Wait wait wait... you're adjusting the dial as far as it will go WITHOUT pressing AC on...?

What are we missing here? Just having the fans on without turning on the AC isn't going to result in cold air... I don't understand your issue here.

I think he's expecting outside vent air to be closer to ambient than +20 above.

Yes I don't want heat, just outside air closer to ambient. The dealer did the AC test, when I said fresh air.

Turning the AC on without recirculating IS pulling in fresh air, it's just cooling it on the way since that air passes over/around the engine, which obviously is much hotter than ambient.

Expecting air blown in from outside to be at ambient temps is a bit unrealistic, I think, keeping in mind the whole engine thing.

At the end of all this... my question is... why not just use the AC, or better yet if ambient temps are such a concern, open the windows...

eh... I dunno... I'll check this out on my car on the ride home. I have dual climate controls, but I think my legs could get pretty cold if I put the dials down to "LO" but keep the AC off.

Not that I ever would. I like my legs and hands warm, but my face cold. It's tough to manage. #diva

The air does not blow over and around the engine, It is sucked in at the cowl ( base of windshield) with a rubber gasket to seal it from the engine, open your hood and look. When it's 50 degrees outside on the hiway at 70 mph, I don't want to use AC or open the windows. Every car I have owned (I'm 64) does not heat air on cool.

Dual zone automatic climate control set to 66F on auto with the a/c switched off, ambient temperature according to the car outside was 63F, measured 63-65F at the left of center vent.

Ambient air was 61 degrees here today, and the outside air flowing through my vents (no A/C) was cool. There's no way that air was anywhere near 80 degrees.

I have manual controls also. I'll try to get a temp measurement for you.

Dual climate here, put the temp on LO and to the footwell. AC off, it was about 45 degrees this morning and the air coming from the vents was burrburr.
