Rough idle on 2008 2.0
Hi all,
I have been having trouble for the past week with a rough idle. It only happens at idle and as soon as gas is pressed it seems to go away. It doesn't feel like it's losing any power at the high end. It fluctuates around 200rpms. It gets to the point where it is about to stall but it doesn't actually do it. I have checked the vacuum lines, cleaned the TB and am now stuck. the car isn't throwing any codes. I am wondering if it could be the IMRC. Any thoughts? |

Changed spark plugs? Cleaned MAF? New fuel filter? Reset ECU (unhooking battery for a few minutes)?

I changed the spark plugs and air filter. One thing I noticed last night was inside the air intake hose that connects to the throttle body, there was some oil that was coming from the vacuum hose on the valve cover. Also, when I took the duct off and cranked the car with just the throttle body, the car ran fine. Is it normal for there to be oil in the air duct? Seems like that's what's making it run rich dumping it down the TB causing it to sputter.

There should never be oil anywhere on the intake system. Sounds like you have a bad gasket/seat somewhere honestly. And yes oil entering the combustion chamber could cause a rough idle.

No, just the rough idling when breaking at slow speed.
Should not be oil in there .... unless it was light oil from lubing....but that would not cause issues. Eric |
