Looking at 07 Focus. Advice???

I just joined the forum and am looking for any advice on things to look for on an 07 Focus I'm going to see this afternoon. I searched and found a few threads, and it looks like the Focus is a pretty bullet proof car generally. The one I'm looking at is an 07 ZX4 SE 2.0 5 speed manual. I just had my old Honda Civic totaled a week ago and am looking for an economical work and run around car to replace it with.

Other than the alternator problems that seem to be common, is there anything else specific to the Focus I should be wary of other than the obvious issues like how well it's been maintained?

Thanks for the help.

First off, welcome to the forum!

I've had my '07 since no and have no issues at al (knock on wood). Just look out for the standard issues that you would look for with any car.

Oops, take that back, I do have an oil leak from a ruptured oil line. It's like a $30 fix though. No biggie.

The lower the mileage and the better taken are of, the better for you.

Ive bad had mine since december 2010, and I love it! I had some issues that stemmed from the previous owners neglect, but since I've fixed the problem, it's been a great car! Not to mention the fact that the focus community is one of the most helpful on the Internet.

Welcome to FF, and good luck on your decision!

Thanks for the help guys. Unfortunately, the car ended up being a bust. They failed to mention it had been wrecked in the back. It was just sheet metal damage, but I know enough to know it would have cost at least 1500 bucks to fix, and they wouldn't move an inch on the price. They were already asking excellent condition money, and it was far from excellent. This is the 4th car I've driven over 100 miles to look at and something serious was wrong with it. On every one the dealer/seller downright lied about the condition or conveniently failed to mention it.

I actually stopped by the Ford dealer on the way home and drove a 2012 Focus SE and loved it. I'm seriously considering just financing a new or nearly new 2012. I was beyond impressed how nice it drove.

Man... I hate dirtbags like that. None of us around here like that though, I'm pretty sure they'd be banned lol. Glad you like the 2012, looks like you aren't new to fords either. They're definitely good looking machines man! You'll find all the info you could want on here for 'em
