Looking for help with a 03 Focus electrical issues (multiple)

Friend had his 03 Focus 2.3 automatic (plain Jane model, no power windows, doors etc...) die on him as he was driving down the road, no lights, no power shortage symptoms, just shut off going 45 mph.

Had the car towed to my shop and found the battery completely dead, wouldn't take a charge so it was replaced with another to get the car started. After car was started alternator was checked and found to be no good, after much cussing and a scraped knuckle or two the new alternator is in. Start car and alternator is putting out 14.5 volts. Everything seems to be good to go or so we thought, now car has no reverse but all forward gears shift fine, the airbag light and oil light flicker with key off and out of ignition. No trouble codes showing, could this be a bad ground issue or maybe a control module problem? I searched this forum and others and found numerous threads on trans problems with A + B solenoids going bad, but nothing about a no reverse condition.

If any one has any ideas please come to the rescue!
Thanks, Dave
