Home...Again

Hey guys/gals,

I know a lot of you don't know me. So I'm gonna use this as a reintroduction of myself to you guys.

Ten years ago, I joined this forum after I purchased my second car, a navy 2002 Ford Focus SE ATX (hence my username). I posted as if I was a mechanic and had all the answers. I pretended I could resolve my issues instantly; with little to no money and absolutely no mechanical skill at the time. Let me tell you, I went back and read all of my old posts: pure gold. Funniest hour of my life, reading how I thought I was actually going to resolve every issue I encountered. Well, to save you the effort, I'll sum it up: my car got wrecked after an unfortunate celebration, and it never got out of the junkyard. I then claimed I had a 1993 silver Mazda MX6 MTX to "do a quick engine swap" on. That never happened either, it sat in my garage for almost a year in pieces, then I flipped the body of it and a ton of parts for a 94 Probe GT MTX that I spent a ton of time and money on and then promptly lost to it sitting for too long in the parking lot of an apartment I lived at. Went a year with no car before finally stumbling into a 1992 Taurus SHO MTX that had red and green body panels on it. Six months later, I found a donor car for all of the body panels on it, but, again, I thought I was a mechanic and I wasn't. The unfortunate friend of mine who took on the burden of helping me hit a frustration point and offered me a swap of those two cars and $400 for his 1992 white Taurus SHO MTX with black leather interior. I loved that car, I really did. I owned it for the better part of a year before, unfortunately, I got clipped in front of my house. Sold that to a friend and fell bass ackwards into a silver 2006 Ford Fusion SE MTX. I have had that car since March of 2010 until now.

This brings me to why I'm back here on Focus Fanatics. In one month, I will be the proud new papa of one of the cars on my dream car wishlist: a black 2004 SVT Ford Focus ZX5. To say I'm ecstatic is the understatement of the century.

Since I've had the Fusion, since it is such a dull car, I haven't been an active member of any forum. That's why I'm here. I miss the feeling of support if anything goes wrong. The safety net of thousands of people with centuries of combined experience in the same exact vehicle.

So, I'm back for a while at least. Expect pictures and me in on any post I can be. Thanks for having me and I look forward to any future friends I make here!

Welcome back! Sometimes the hardest thing to learn is that you don't know something. Sounds like you're back on the horse though. Enjoy!

The timing belt was done within the last six months from my understanding. I haven't received the car yet.

As for learning, I spent two years as a dyno tech, where I learned most things. But what I didn't learn to do, I learned the power of the almighty dollar. If you can't fix anything, you can almost always pay someone to fix it.

I know that's not necessarily in the spirit of these forums, but with me working afternoons and having limited tools, I find it easier to just remedy most problems with money. I'll definitely still be trying to learn though. I will also be trying to become self sufficient in my understanding and diagnosing of any mechanical issues I have going forward.

Oh man, you guys, seriously. I just went and found my accounts on ProbeTalk and SHOForum. It seems like, up until about 2010, I was a complete douchebag.

Also, I noticed a trend. Is this forum still so surprisingly active because our car is being produced, or is this forum so active because the members here care more?

welcome back.....but if you're not mechanically inclined....or Rollin in the dough, your SVT may go the way of your other former vehicles...........parts are becoming harder and harder to find and more expensive when you do find them.

good luck, if you were down here in TX I could help you,but try to find SVT guys in your area. The SVT's have their quirks.

Money is getting easier to find these days. Finally got lucky enough to find my dream job at Ford, working on an F-150 axle line and very limited bills. Also, thankfully, the soon-to-be-previous owner has taken extreme care of her since he got her, so I trust that she is coming from good hands.
