exhaust type noise on startup

In cold weather, my 2008 Focus is very loud on startup , idles fast, then quiets down after a couple minutes. Its been fine all summer, but the colder weather is approaching. Any ideas?

My 2010 does the same thing. It is even louder and more prominant with my fswerks cai, header, and no-cat exhaust

Emissions cars do this; they idle ridiculously fast when cold to warm up the catalysts.
