What does the symbol on the little display mean?

I've been wondering why there is a circle with a line through it next to my gas icon. When looking at the distance to E it is an arrow pointing to my gas cap. Any ideas?

That appears to be an average symbol, [Fuel Pump] > Flower where as on the Distance To Empty the arrow tells you to visit the fuel pump at or before the DTE reaches 0.

If you use the left control wheel and click over to the right where the greater than symbol is it takes you to the Ecomode guide to show you the flowers for speed and anticipation, also a leaf for shifting (misspelled on the car) only on the manuals.

The ">" symbol is showing you where the gas cap is located when you enter a gas station (0 = no gas) in case you forgot or not sure because of being a new car.
In our case, it is on the right side of the vehicle. I think I read about it in the Owner's manual.

Its coincidental that the fuel door is on the right hand side of the vehicle Voldar, that > symbol seems more likely to indicate that there is more information available by clicking to the right on the left side steering wheel control.

On the actual fuel gauge is the arrow to point to the side that the fuel door is on.

Ding Ding Ding.....we have a winner....That is the mathematical sign for Mean (or Average). Actually it's the symbol for an empty set, however it is commonlyused as an average indicator. X-Bar (an x with a line over it) would have likely been just as confusing, but is the proper indicator of average.

The > arrow is the same arrow used throughout the system to indicate there is an additional menu available with a "right press" on the directional pad on the steering wheel

That's not an average symbol, it looks more like a no symbol as far as I can tell. A letter with a bar over it is the Mathematical symbol for average.


No symbol.

Besides its funnier this way. Even though Average makes more sense, but the average symbol is X bar

If you run your gas down to where the car chimes at you that your fuel level it low, this circle with a line through it and the "gas pump" icon will light up (orange) telling you to put moooorree gas in the tank.
