Will an 01 engine work in an 03

I'm pretty sure my 03 zx3 focus just blew a bearing. Its the DOHC 2.0 zetec engine and its a 5speed. Theres a good deal on a 01 zx3 with the same DOHC zetec 2.0 but it has a bad auto trans.

I'm wondering if the 01 engine will bolt right into my 03 and manual trans with no serious problems?
Heard somewhere that the fuel injection wiring harness might be different?

Please help me out!!!

I don't see why it wouldn't. Just take notice of any different sensors if they exist and just swap over your current harness.

Well I got on car-part.com and apparently there are a lot of engines for sale around me.
I'm thinking I might go ahead and buy the same year motor and everything so i will run into less problems.
It then asks if i need a smooth seam runner or raised seam runner. What's the difference between these two? I know they have to do with the intake. I think mine is a raised seam runner but is there anyone who can clarify this?

Help a brother out!

The crank sensor housing is different between auto and manual trans. They just bolt into the block behind the flywheel. If you don't change it, it won't start and you have to pull the engine or trans out to change it.

Since you have an 03, that would be a raised seam runner. The smooth seam was an early '00 thing. It doesnt really matter since you can easily just swap intake manifolds
