Another quality Ford update... I bet you they are they laughing stock of the auto business right now. My wife's Dodge is still running original OEM non updated software and has yet to have a single glitch.

Cars built at the beginning of March, 2012 were the first to get 3.0.2 installed at build so you should be fine.

Well, according to hearsay over at SMR the problem with the update that was released first for other models and then pulled was exactly that, a problem with the installer, not the update so this is totally possible. Of course this didn't come directly from Ford but more from people saying "My dealer told me....."

So the conditions during my install:

Climate Off
Entertainment Off
Deleted my existing phone before installing
Popped Nav card before installing
Disconnected iPod from USB before
Car was not at all driven after install was initiated

Install took about 25 min all in and climate is fine.

If the problem is the installer why did they pull the update? I followed the directions to a tee... Guess I should have known to hold my foot on the brake while activating the left turn signal and honk the horn to the tune of Dixie....while installing the update and then everything would be fine

Well, like I said, I certainly don't know that for a fact and this is just what some were posting and again "My dealer told me....", well, not sure how much stock you can put in that.

What is interesting, though, is that when the first version was released for the other models and they had to pull it there pretty quickly was an announcement from the mod in the SMR community forum that it had been removed and anyone that may have downloaded it and not already installed should refrain from doing so. No such announcement after our version was pulled. It just disappeared and nothing but silence about the whole issue.

Mine doesn't work.

During my install:
Radio was on (At least, I think it came on after the first reset?...)
Climate was on.
NAV Card was out. (I can't see this being the issue as the problems are across vehicles both with and w/o Nav, right?)
A few more details, I had a CD in, I didn't do a master reset before the install (nor did I unpair my phone) and I was driving the car during the update (on my way home from work.)

My install was:

No CD
No master reset prior
Was driving
Did not unpair phone
Radio was on (not XM, just FM)
Climate controls were off (windows down! )
Removed my USB drive that had music from the arm rest

None of that should matter, the process should be as simple as:
1. Download the update files to a USB drive.
2. Start engine and leave it running.
3. Plug USB drive into car and follow the on-screen prompts.

That's it, the update package should do all the rest. If it's not that simple than the update should be available only to dealers qualified to install it.

Where I work as a driver validation engineer lead we operate under a simple motto, "it should just work" and we execute under that motto very well.

Between the long-term problems people are having with the DCT and Ford's incompetence at maintaining software, I've already made the decision to sell my Focus as soon as MFT climate control functionality is restored. It has under 10k miles so now's as good a time as any.

And then... I am buying a Subaru Legacy GT and building my own infotainment center. I am seriously considering thinking of taking it open source so everyone can benefit...including Ford.

Good luck, let me know how you fair.

I tried selling my White Platinum SEL fully loaded with 6500 miles--I was taking nearly a 7k loss on it.

:(
