Tranny Question
At work today, someone had a reasonably new Ford Focus rental car in the parking lot. It was an SE model with an automatic without the Sport Shift. Instead of "S" on the shifter, is just had "L" for low.
Is that the same DCT that is in my SE Sport minus the shifting feature (+/-) ? Just curious, thanks. |

You're welcome. It would be odd if it was a different transmision, but Dodge is doing that with the fatter (4/3rds scale) Alfa Guiletta. The 2.0 L i4 uses a 6 speed torque converter automatic same as the Hyundai Elantra (and might actually be the Hyundai gearbox), but the Fiat 1.4 L engine uses a dry dual clutch dct like our Focus, but the shifter is exactly the same right down to the slap stick manumatic mode in the Chryslers. That is confusing unless you know what to look for.

Suss you are correct. If you remember I work at Michigan Assembly on the Engine line and infact i secure the transmission to the engine. For the Focus S, SE, SEL, TI there is only 1 auto trans. The only difference is the shifter button option and programming.

Technically it was considered a no cost option on the SEL so there might have been one or two built without it, but none that I've seen in person. Most if not all SEL or Ti models should have had the select shift feature with the DCT.
