Just a quick audio question...
whats the big deal with oversized subs & big amps & whatnot?? i hear its to improve the sound quality but all i ever hear is just loud bumping that vibrates the whole car. that would completely ruin any song for me. to be honest i dont ever really hear much of a difference between cars' sound systems. i mean i've turned the bass down to 0 on my stereo before and i can tell the difference between that, half (What its at now) and all the way. and its just perfect at halfway to me (small note but i dont even have subs). to me any more bass and then it'd just become a bit annoying or intrusive. but anywho do they really improve sound quality that much because it doesn't ever sound like it everytime i'm in or around it.

i think its all preference:) i have heard some awesome systems before (my buddy's GSR for one) its all about the setup! what kind of music are you listening to? country music wouldn't benefit from hard hitting bass like dubstep would. my buddy loved korn, but it would blow fuses everytime lol. i never really liked systems myself. i was always the kind of guy to gut a car to shave off 1/10th of a second on my 1/4 mile time:)

I get migraines frequently, so I usually end up setting the bass to like -4... I think it can get annoying on stock systems. If you have it set up right and listen to like dubstep or something, it can be cool, but more often that not, it seems like big systems are just really good for vibrating license plate holders off.
Granted, there have been some times when I've really wanted to just crank up some german rap (which is actually really badass) and cruise slow...

Some people are just happy with music regardless of what's producing it. Nothing wrong with that. I like clean, loud music. And I love bass.

Its more of having a well rounded perfectly staged setup, the reason you hear nothing but bass,is because lower frequencies tend to travel further without deterioration . I have 2 6.5" speakers in each door, 1 6.5 and 1 tweeter in each rear door with 3500 watts on my single 18" sub woofer

Also, the majority of cars are not properly sound dampened which causes sound to escape

it's a matter of finding the right setup for your sound preferences. every size and setup will have a different overall sound and some people want it one way or another. I use two 10's in mine so I get the low end that the speakers don't play, but still can keep power to them fairly low. have good sound quality while stil keeping my sanity and for those around me. that said though, I do have the ability to crank it and get the volume up if I do ever want it.
I agree though that hearing a car rattle to pieces isn't appealing at all. the sound is best heard inside the vehicle and not everywhere else.

Personally I don't mind loud cars, but I want to hear the musical notes not "brapppp brapppp" as the trunk rattles apart
