The leather Ti seats aren't particularly comfortable for my (lower?) back either... the built-in lumbar support really does nothing for me. I'm also 5'10" and ~180lbs. But I'm also awkward with a 6'2" arm span and horrible posture to begin with. (I think I have a relatively long torso / short legs too? My inseam is ~31")

All I know for sure is that my SEL is great for long hauls. Good seats and the longest cruising range of any vehicle I ever had. There are still times though, after getting gas, I look around for a gas cap like on my old car, forgetting that ths one has none!

Perhaps the seats are trying to correct your posture? I get massage and chiropractic regularly. If your spine is already having issues (which can be caused by and cause bad posture), obviously properly-placed lumbar support will feel improper to misplaced bone....

And coming from someone who has had years of back problems corrected, I love these seats.....

I think you're right - my own underlying issues are probably the cause of the discomfort. It just seems to irritate me more than my last vehicle, but it's nothing really horrible.

My SE sport package seats are perfect. I came from another Ford, (Contour SVT)
Seats I despise are those in VW.. they are like a public bus. horrible.
I am only 5' 8" but also have long legs with an inseam of 34"
The non adjusting headrest bothered me at first, but now is no problem.

I'm totally an outlier; built like an orangutan.

Thank you FORD .. for at least caring enough to look into it
UPDATE --- the good, the bad, and the ugly

The good: Ford did call me back as promised on the date they committed to.

The bad: They advised that they did consult one of their engineers. The engineer said that they would not provide any specifics on the seat because ANY modification to the seat would be a safety issue as it is highly engineers (sure it is ,,, down there in Mexico :-) )

The ugly: I was told that they would not provide any information such that I could make an assessment as to what, if anything, I might do to address the pressure point I experience and which causes me pain ... BUT, was also told that I should consult a body shop / collision center at my local Ford dealer as they know how the seats are assembled and would know how the seat could be modifed. So, Ford cannot tell me but, a Ford dealer can? Guess the laywers are hard at work making things "run smoothly" LOL

I have not yet gotten to the FORD body shop ... it's that darn having to actually work for a living thing getting in the way .. Oh why does my employer always want me to actually work for the $$ they give me ... so unfair ... :-)

ALSO .. I did inquire about the trunk lid springs as my truck lid likes to drop just enought, after you open it, that you get to hit your head on it. Well, there is no available / possible adjustment to the tension on those springs .. NOR, different springs if you happen to have a spoiler on your truck lid and thus slightly more weight ... BTW, I do not have the spolier ... but, did find it odd that would not be something taken into account when determining the spring force / tension required to keep the trunk lid up

I can't say that I find a 2008-2011 Focus seat to be any better in any way shape or form having driven a 2009 Focus as a loaner vehicle while mine was being looked at/ worked on. Well on the whole its a completely worse experience, no cruise control, no sync, a 4 speed slush box who's only claim to fame is the tall final drive and nearly as tall 4th gear ratio leading to lower revs at 70 mph, but everywhere else it falls apart and isn't going anywhere.

I thought it was because I drive a lot, then I thought I just had to wear it in. Ive had my car less than a year and have little over 20k on it. The seat makes driving miserable!
+++

I guess the next step is the Body Shop at the local Ford dealer ... I'm 6 ft tall, 185 lbs, and my inseam (leg) is a 34/35". As such, given where my foot rests, my leg does splay a bit out ... and that is why the pressure point on my upper, outer thigh (it's right about at where the two fabrics on the seat are also sticked together .. to give you a better idea of the exact location.

Note that raising the seat and moving it back (and pulled in wheel further out fron the dashboard) shoud help ... BUT, for me, at my hight, really donly have the head room.

Oh, FORD suggested I use a pillow :-). I'll keep that suggestion with the "use an umbrella while driving if your car leaks" :-)

Sorry to hear you have a similar problem ... I would think there is an easy solution .. will keep you up to date when I get to the Body shop and have the discussion ... Gonna try for this FRIDAY

Thanks

OFF TOPIC --- anyone have an opinion on the FUSION? My Dad is looking for a new car ... I suggested a Sonota .. but, don't want my recommendations to him to be influenced too much by my recent experiences with my Focus -- THANKs!!
