This happened to me this morning on my way into work as well. Started the car and the warning came on and was gone when I started to drive. It came on a couple times more during my one hour commute but only momentarily. I just had a brake service done at the Ford dealership less then a week ago, last wednesday.

Called the dealership, waiting to hear back from them.

This has been happening to my 2012. We took it right in... Ford Mechanics said that light has to stay on before they can find the bad sensor. By the way before everyone gets smart about it... they checked the levels first... saying it was a sensor. It is driving me crazy... comes on randomly all the time now but won't stay on. I have only had it for 6 months. I have a warranty but geesh this is annoying. I want a loaner car and for them to fix it NOW not while "I" the customer am waiting for it to come on...

Whatever happened with your brake fluid level problem? Mine has been coming on in my 2012. I took it right away to the dealer and they checked the levels and said it was fine and it was a sensor but they needed it to come on and stay on to know where to fix it. This sounds odd that I just googled this problem and they don't know about it!
Thanks for any updates!

Hi SportyChick and 2focuses,

I'd like to help by getting your cases escalated. To do this, I'll just need a bit of information from you. Please send me a PM with your VIN, dealer, mileage, daytime phone number, and full name; I'll make sure your regional customer service managers get looped in and address your concerns.

Have a great weekend!
Crystal

We had this message pop up on our Feb 2012 build Focus a few times. It was at the dealer for a couple other things over the weekend, so I asked them about the brake fluid message as well.

They ended up replacing the brake fluid cap per Ford SSM 32088. The cause is listed simply as "porosity". They said they updated a computer as part of the fix as well, but this is not mentioned on the repair invoice. I hope this helps others that are having this problem.

By the way, my dealer (Bill Utter Ford in Denton, TX) did great work on everything I asked them to look at. I give them high marks for the work they did and keeping me updated on their progress.

I'm assuming "porosity" means the cap was simply letting fluid out due to insufficient sealing...is there a rubber gasket on it, or is it just a plastic cap? Maybe the seal is what is porous?

I had this issue and brought it to the dealer. It was a wire routing problem around the battery area, or so I was told. Took about 20 minutes to solve the problem. i suspect its an issue that's popping up more often than not. Light has not reappeared since and it's been about 2 months now.

Fantastic news, WhiteT5 and Darth_Focus! I'm glad that your dealers got your concerns quickly resolved.

My wife reported that the "brake fluid level low" message popped up again and stayed on until she was nearly at work. The fluid level is fine and the cap is not loose. This is the first time it's happened in probably 2-3 months. Since it is so intermittent, I have my doubts that the dealer can/will do anything.
