Can't decide need reassurance

Whatz up guys, decided to register as I've been under the radar for awhile. Well to start out I'm on my phone so I apologize for errors...middle of moving. Anyways I,m in the market for a new car, 5000 grand max. Ex honda guy, not a complete newb. Decidex on the focus as long as it doesn't have the spi motor, auto or manual doesn't concern me as my honda was 5 speed. Low miles is key to me at the moment.

Cutting to the chase...

Was told focus is unreliable, if I lower it 2 inches I need new tie rods, electrical issues, so much hate I got... I did my research and read it was reliable bunow I'm lost so I was thinking of going with the lancer es instead... Opinions or guidance for my new DD

Thx, though it would be cool to have the only lowered focus in my car club and town.

welcome to FF man, and good luck with the move.

gotta love the comments from people who know nothing about cars. new tie rods? please. electrical problems? uh... nope.

it would be a cold day in hell before I bought a lancer es over a focus. anything mitsubishit. you want the mechanics advice? that was it. lol.

while the focus wouldn't be my first choice... it was. haha. not to mention I was surprised especially when I lowered it.

Iike any car though, they're only as good as the care they've received.

PS don't mind the hate.... everyone seems to have the same opinion of the focus and that its a pile of junk, like a tempo. Once you start modding it, people around you will realize its not a bad car.

for $5000 you should be able to find one with decent miles in the 2005-2007 year range, which will have the pretty much worry free duratec engine. That's what I did. I have put 20,000 trouble free miles on the car,no problems at all.

The Duratec's are pretty darn solid man. I can't think of too many widespread issues, if any. Just make sure you do your homework on the car its self.... was the oil changed regularly, clean title... etc. As long as it was treated good, there's no reason you can't go 150k on basic maintenance. I got a focus up here in wa with 63k miles for 7 grand, it was a pretty good deal. Just shop around! Good luck with the purchase man, and welcome to FF!

spend a few bucks and get a carfax membership. It can make a world of difference.

Oh yeah, they both look great dropped for sure. I like my sedan, trunks are great :P I can put firewood and stuff in the back and not worry about it getting too messy, and I personally think the bumpers look better on the sedans!
