Swapped Interior bulbs with LEDs

THREAD UPDATED WITH NEW PICS 10/12/10 See below!

Ordered a few bulbs from Superbrightleds.com, Awesome site with all kinds of cool bulbs and stuff.

I opted to swap out my 2 map lights and the rear dome + the trunk. Well, I used the internet and got the wrong bulbs for the rear dome(and why doesn't ford put interior bulbs in the manual?! WTF ) Anywho. the map lights are correct, so here is a quick shot of them. I love the look of them, I also went with the Cool White color choice, a 5500-10,000 K rating on the bulbs. The 2 map lights each have 5 leds in them, once my new order for the correct bulbs for the other applications arrive, the rear dome will have a 5 bulbs HIGH POWER LED light in it, covering 220 degree in different directions.

Sorry the pic is a bit blurry, and my camera makes the lights look super super bright, which they aren't as bright as they look, but still have PLENTY of light to read and see even with the rear dome light off (which it is):

Looks niiice!! I wanna do the same thing with my interior lights, trunk, and also the license plate lights. Since you've done it already, I figured you'd be the best person to ask a few questions I have about puttin em in.

First of all, how do you actually take the map and dome light covers off? Do you just pop em off w/ a screw driver or somethin? Or is there more to it?

And when you hook them up, is there any special wiring you have to do or do you just pop them in like normal bulbs?

Lastly, what are the sizes for each bulb? I don't wanna order the wrong size and have to go through the hassle of returning everything. Thanks for your help!

Philly:

The front and rear lights come off similar, I just wedged a screwdriver to get the map lights out.

And Yes, the bulbs just slide right in place of the factory ones, no wiring or adjusting necessary.

The map bulbs are a 194 mini-wedge base style, and the rear dome is a 194/168, same mini wedge base. Sources on the net show it being a 6411, it is NOT. Its slightly larger than the map bulb, by 1 or 2mm.

As promised, Here are some updated pics with the rest of the bulbs installed. The rear dome isn't quite as bright as the 2 map lights because of a few reasons, there is only 1 dome light bulb in the fixture for starters, and 2 the bulb is a bit different to spread light outward evenly instead of one direct beam, plus the dome cover is like a fractal-like lens, made to scatter light, the front maps are crystal clear. Either way, I like it, looks sweet, at least the color temps are the same

Also the license plate bulbs seem really bright in the one picture, blame that on the camera, though the bulbs are bright, I had to turn them 90 degrees towards the bumper, because they would have blinded somebody on the road, but problem solved, not too much off the regular bulbs, but nicer whiter look.

Total list of bulbs replaced:
Front Map light(2)
Rear Interior Dome
Trunk

License plate light(2)

Don't hate on my clownfish!

Trunk is lit up nicely!

Interior:

Through Tints......;)

I Like

Once again, www.superbrightleds.com, awesome stuff!

Looks good.

I love led bulbs. I swapped my dome, odometer, trunk, and license plate lights with white leds.
