Question Hot CD's

Geez! When I play my CD's in my Focus, when I eject the CD's, they are very hot. Anyone else notice this? My CD's in my other cars would get warm, but not hot like in the Focus. Is this normal for the Focus's CD player or should I be concerned about a possible problem?

Didn't know this car could play CDs.

J/k.

It's pretty normal for them to be quite warm. Electronics tend to get quite warm, and the dash has no ventilation behind it. Most of my cars toasted CDs quite nicely, so don't worry about it, unless there's smoke and flames .

Sidenote: My iPhone got nasty hot yesterday while tethering to a laptop, playing youtube on the phone, while on hold on speakerphone, for about 45 minutes... Roasty, toasty... that's electronics for you.

It is normal that the CD will come out pretty hot, even if it hasn't been playing for a long while. We don't use the CD players on our cars very often but it's true for both the mid-level stereo on the SE and for the the Sony system.

A strong argument for not leaving the CD in the player when you're not using it, that's for sure.

I only play CDs in the car on the very rare occasion I feel inclined to own a CD rather than use iTunes or download it on Amazon or what have you... but sometimes I feel like I have to have the physical CD and art booklet for some albums. *shrug* the drive home in those scenarios is about the only time my CD player gets used, lol.

Can't you usually get albums cheaper online anyways? Not sure what the point of this added step is.

I usually SoundHound a song I hear that I like, then tap to buy it right away, and explore the rest of that album/artist.

Only about 1 in 5 albums do I like enough songs on it to warrant buying the full album anyways.

Trying to get my parents in tune with the times... my dad still uses some 128 MB MP3 player, and is shocked it doesn't work via USB in his new car.
