So when I added in my k&n filter I took out the air box all together along with the stock intakes from the whisker area. Any thoughts? I have a very definite increase in throttle response and its got beautiful acoustics goin on.

Edit: I'll be removing the snorkel in the morning and taking it out for a spin to see how it does. I also just got a prefilter ordered up as well.

Lot's of ways to skin this cat. As it's one of the only mods for this car where we have multiple choices, there will always be ways to change it up.

Personally, I want to add Steeda's MAF housing and a smooth tube to the TB to my newmissioned stock box. I don't see how any of the other setup's would outflow that, especially as we seem to be exhaust limited at this point.

Tuning and a header would really wake up the intake possibilities.

Exhaust limited how? I'm going to be getting the FSWerks Stealth exhaust.
As for the intake, I agree, lots of possibilities. I like the way it sounds right now but what I'm trying to find out is if its the most effective or if I'm kidding myself by just having a filter with no box or ram on it.

Guys who have dyno'd various intake combinations have all come up with similar numbers(150's-low 160's). It seems that pretty much any intake combo will net you the same gains, whether it be homemade(newmission) or aftermarket

FocusBoy58 has an intake, header and CBE on his, prolly the best na Mk3 numbers to date(183/157), _Red_ has Steeda CAI and custom CBE(170/163 on a Mustang). Opening up the intake and exhaust is beneficial, tuning would be optimal.

A snorkel delete would definitely not hurt the Steeda intake, but I think that gains would be negligible. I think that the majority of benefit would be the initial couple of seconds of throttle application from a dead stop up until whenever the car is going fast enough to feed the intake with air from around the headlight.
If you notice a change it should be in terms of mileage and not power.

No, nobody has. I wanted to do something similar after doing my exhaust, but unfortunately my buddy sold his shop. I'm quite sure that after opening my exhaust that I would be revisiting the intakes with an entirely different perspective.

Hows the bay will it get dirty faster?
The inside of your box may get dirty a little bit faster, but it shouldn't be a concern with reusable filters. None of the rest of the bay is affected by the snorkel delete so it won't get dirty any faster or slower.

Like TiStick said, on the OEM exhaust we are all getting similar numbers. In exhaust theory, tubing sizing is done according to expected HP because each size can only let so much air pass through it. 2" tubing is only good for approximately 160HP (iirc). Each .25" increase is good for somewhere around 20-30 HP (I don't have time to find the exact numbers).

If you are adding the stealth exhaust, you pretty much have the choice of whatever intake you want. I think that the closed box/snorkel delete would be a limiting factor on a 2.5" exhaust and would recommend pretty much anything else. A for what is the most effective with that exhaust-that's pretty much uncharted territory.

I completely deleted the box, would removing the snorkel still be beneficial?

I wouldn't assume that it would.
