Question Engine Cuts Out When Cruise Is Disengaged

Hi Guys,

Got a strage one going on here.............. (2004 ZX5 auto) Two times now, while driving at night with the cruise on everything is fine. Touch the brakes to cancel it and the engine instantly stops (like you turned the key off), the dome light comes on (as if the door was opened), all dash lights go out,all exterior lights go out (including the turn signals),the radio stays on. I can pop it into neutral and the car will start right up. This happened the first time after driving about 2 miles at highway speed and canceling the cruise and the other night after driving about 30 miles at 70-75 mph. This has occured twice in the last month. Any ideas for me to start trouble shooting this glitch--very confused. Everything else on the car is working normally.

Thoughts??

Check the rear hatch wiring (between the hinges where it goes from body to hatch lid) for shorts/breaks for a start. TerryB has posted some good pics before. The cruise circuit is tied into the brake light circuit. Odd electrical goings-on when these circuits are damaged.
