Black Plastic Rocker/Side Skirt Covers
Can anyone clear this up for me, were the hatchback Foci the only versions to get the factory installed hard black plastic (rocker panel)/(side skirt) covers or did all versions that optioned it? I've been searching the web and reading mixed info. I was in the junkyard today and found a sedan with the covers on it.
Also, does anyone know where I can purchase these plastic panels new? I know a lot of people removed them but I wouldn't mind putting them on. Finally, can someone clarify how they are mounted, I read that the top of the panels are held with adhesive and somewhere on the bottom or the (rocker panel)/(side skirt) it’s fastened? Can someone tell me exactly where these fasteners are located as I will need to drill out the holes for them? Thanks guys. |

norcalfocus01 are you talking about the plastic strip pieces that are mounted halfway up each door? The ones that are about shopping cart level to stop dings and dents?
Regardless, that isn't exactly what I’m looking for, where I live very few Foci's have the plastic rocker panel I'm talking about, I don't think it's a common item on Foci's. Imagine just plain stock metal rocker panels on the car and then imagine placing a piece of plastic in roughly the same shape as the panel over top of the metal ones. I wish I knew what they were called so for simplicity sake it is like putting a plastic/ABS ground effects package on the car, but the kits panels look identical to what the car looks like stock. |

I believe your talking about the factory side skirts. I see those on almost ever single focus on the road. Don't know where to get them other than a dealership maybe.

norcalfocus01, that is a good panel comparative to what mine are like! The combined surface areas of the wholes are about what is left on some parts of the rockers on my car. That being said they will be repaired before the plastic skirts go on.
munky18, I will be giving the local dealer a call on Monday to see if they can get and how much. As for the rarity of them I find it odd that hear in Canada they are not a common item to see. Come winter time the roads here are made of salt and one would think it would be a good way to combat rust. As a side note, does anyone know of any good aftermarket side skirts for the car? Something that is clean and would go well with a stock front and rear fascia? |

I phoned the local for dealer today, they told me the panels were part of the “Sony package” whether that’s true or not I found the price of them outrageous. For a sedan model the long (2 door length) piece is $196 each and the small pieces that attach to the bottom of the front fender behind the wheel is $33 each. The total becomes $458 CND.
That is WAY more than I am willing to pay for something like that, I have seen after market kits for that price. Unless I find some in the junkyard looking decent I won’t be going the stock look now. munky18, I would jump on the Roush ones you are talking about but it appears nthcoast.com only carries for zx3 body type, I have a sedan… |
