Door handle touch not always unlocking

It seems lately I'm starting to have an issue with my drivers door touch feature not unlocking my doors. I'd say it's almost like 1 out of every five or six times it fails to recognize I've touched the handle. When this happens I usually fumble with the door handle trying various ways to grip the handle or turn my side with my keys closer to the door and sometimes it will unlock but seems to take a while. I thought maybe the fob battery was weak so I took the wife's set and traded with her but that didn't work any better. The interesting thing though is I discovered the other door handles seem to always work every single time without fail. Is there a possible known issue with some builds that may have left the factory with a defective handle? Just curious if others had a similar issue and if so what the dealer did to fix it.

I'm sure I look pretty funny to others, standing at my car pulling on my door handle over and over. Then readjusting my grip and doing the twist. Lol.

Thanks

I have had the same issue and only with the front drivers door. Do you know what kind of sensor they are using. Optical or proximity, I assume it's not conductive like a touch screen as it would not work with gloves. My dealership thought it was battery, but it always works opening the hatch. Strange!

I notice that when my car is dirty it doesn't work well. I may have to pull it twice for it to work. Just slide your finger over the sensor, if it is gritty, clean it off.

Where exactly is the sensor? I thought it was embedded and hidden in the handle.

I run into this problem every once in awhile, just the other day in fact. Touch the handle and the car honks at me like I am trying to break in. The dealer has looked at it but when I took it in all was well again. This after it acted up for a whole week straight, very frustrating.

I suspect the key fob generates a digitally encoded RF signal and all it takes is a little RF interference to confuse the receiver in the car.

When mine acts up and if I can think fast enough before doing the door handle shuffle. If I just stop and touch the back door handle. it unlocks immediately. Ugh!

I have had this happen once in a while. What works best for me is to not immediately pull the door handle. I just touch the back of the handle. It takes a second for the doors to unlock. I then pull the handle to open the door. What I have found annoying is setting off the horn while washing the car.

I normally just touch my thumb to that spot and it unlocks.

Thats the sensor you touch to "LOCK" the doors. If you ever touch that while trying to pull the handle to unlock it may LOCK or beep the horn. I only touch that sensor when locking and it always works. Wish I could say the same for the one that unlocks it.
