2013 purchase advice needed

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and have been lurking around trying to educate myself and learn about the 2013 Focus. This forum has an incredible amount of info that has been helpful. To make a long story short I need help in deciding what car to purchase. Before I joined the forum, I was sure I wanted an SE hatch with the 6 speed auto, charcoal black cloth interior, and Sirius radio. I've never been a big fan of manual shifts or leather, and really need the darker interior due to work. After reading about the DCT issues, I'm now undecided on which way to go. The cars I'm looking at are:

Focus SE oxford white with black leather, auto, and 201A package

Focus SE ruby red with Stone cloth, auto, sirius, and moonroof

Focus SE performance blue with black leather,5 speed, and 201A package

I really love the ruby red but the lighter interior is almost a deal killer. It's the best deal of the 3.
The oxford white has the leather I'm not big on, and I'm not sure about keeping the white clean.
The performance blue is the one I'm leaning toward, but I'm afraid I'll get tired of the manual shifting quickly.
I know the automatics seem to be either a love it or hate it topic I have a newer Malibu that has a quircky automatic transmission which makes me even more wary.I hope that someone out there can offer some guidance and help in my decision

The automatic is not a problem in my experience. Some people get unlucky and buy a defective car though and ford is unwilling to help out.

I have a 2012 SEL and no major problems. It the clutch does slip a bit and sometimes it can be a bit sluggish but overall im very happy with it and still prefer it to a traditional Auto or CVT. The quality of the car is outstanding (ride, comfort, tech, materials, road noise etc)

Honestly, get the exact car you want- the one you described and don't compromise. There are tons of Foci around and go to a different dealership if you need to.

As for the DCT- please, please, please do an extended test drive on your normal routes to get a feel for the transmission. Test drive the exact car you're considering. Don't let the salesman talk during the drive and don't turn on music. Focus on the driving dynamics of the car and the sounds. Bring a friend or someone you trust for a second opinion. If there's something you don't like about the car, don't buy it and go look at other cars (Cruze, Mazda3, Dart, Civic, etc).

The DCT acts a little differently compared to a conventional automatic but I won't go into details because there's tons of information out there. Some people confuse its normal operation as something wrong with it. For each real trouble DCT out there though, there's many, many more that work perfectly. My 2013's DCT has worked great from day 1 and it now has 6k miles on it.

To add to all above= Why not rent one, say for a week or so to see what you think. Like it was said above, get what you want, even if they have to do a dealer trade. Get the color int/ext & options & edtion you want. The dealers are always going to have sales. I'd buy a stick. Makes it more sporty.

Look out .

Of course you don't mean anyone on this forum. I've got over 36k miles on my DCT and I've thoroughly enjoyed driving it.

I'm not discounting any real complaints. I'm just saying Ford has described the way this DCT is supposed to behave and if someone doesn't like it, then unfortunately, they bought the wrong car. Of course this doesn't apply to those with real issues.

No DCT problems here, it has only gotten better over time. The break-in period was a bit scary at times though. The only real complaint I have is the loss of power while going around sharp corners.

I was going for the Ruby Red. However darker colors show dirt readily. Opted instead for the Silver. Quite happy with the look.
