Well , I got neutered ... and am suprised (in a weird way)
Hey guys , I decided to spend $50 today and do a lunchbox delete. The rear muffler was removed ...
I hopped in and the startup got me excited , but ... after driving 10miles I am rather curious why taking the air filter lid off sounds much more "exhaust like" , and aggressive ? I'm happy that huge muffler (I can't stand it) is gone , but while the car is louder then stock -- it's not what I expected as far as a muffler delete. Now tomorrow I'll take the lid off and see the combo , anyone else here shocked at how taking the plastic filter cover off is "louder/more aggressive" then a muffler delete ??? S/N : I didn't get a tip , but had the straight pipe bent straight out , I think it looks much much better then the muffler / dead pipe. I'll take pics tomorrow. Does anyone here run straight pipe / lidless ? Sent from my iPad using FF Mobile HD |

I know how loud it is ... I had the filter off but put it back on a week ago , I got the delete yesterday so I'm going to go take the lid off now and report back
I'm sure the combo will sound great :) Sent from my iPad using FF Mobile HD |

Just took the lid off , sounds better ... just took a brief spin but wow -- very nice tones .
I removed the huge (I call it a muffler) silver cylinder form the rear of the car with the bent down tail pipe ... I assumed it was a muffler ? Still suprised taking that huge thing off didn't make a "huge" difference. But lid off with it is pretty nice. Sent from my iPad using FF Mobile HD |

Guys I just saw a video of a guy with 80 series flowmaster muffler.
I didn't think this car can produce a flowmaster "tone" , but I guess it can ? If I put a Super 44 back there (where I removed rear muffler / resonator) , will it just be quieter then the "delete" or will it make that "flowmaster sound". I don't want to spend $100 and have it quieter , but I'd love some of that flowmaster music. Sent from my iPad using FF Mobile HD |

Putting any Flowmaster back there will give you a different sound, but will completely cancel any flow improvement in your exhaust. Flowmasters sound good, but they flow horribly. If you want a "bigger" sound, get rid of both mufflers and resonator, and add 1 muffler of your choice back in for the sound.
And you're right, you removed the muffler. We have 2 mufflers and 1 small resonator right in front of the rear suspension. |

Do you know which flowmaster muffler would give the best "throaty flowmaster" sound on this engine ? I'm not sure about the differences between 40/44/10/50... and don't know which would be the best for a 4cyl. I like loud . I was also thinking of maybe a Cherry Bomb Extreme muffler ? I've heard good stuff about them. Here's a setup of what I currently have . As you see I didn't get a tip yet , the shop wanted $75 for a tip and I didn't know if that was a good price or not so I held off. ![]() ![]() Do you know if this tip would work well ? I'm not sure of the stock tubing size. http://www.autoaccessoriesgarage.com...ut-Exhaust-Tip Sent from my iPad using FF Mobile HD |
