Stage 1/2 Cams with stock Exhaust Manifold?

Has anyone done Cams in a D23 with the stock exhaust manifold? Curious what power could be made without putting on a header, which makes these cars obnoxious loud. I spent quite a few minutes on the search button but came up empty.

My thoughts would be intake, exhaust, cams, tune, BSD and windage tray. Curious what I could make power wise with this, while still being quiet for a DD I put 25k miles a year on.

Yeh, your right 'bout the racket a 4 cylinder has w/ a header. As you have a st, which has the best mani/cat for a D-tech. What I'm running is a frpp's Borla system. I then added a fwerks header & their stealth muffler, which is a Magna flow muffler. I have the stealth muffler, which bolts real tight to the flex & then the Borla muffler I moved behind the stealth muffler & have the Borla resonator, next to the fuel tank. If your needing mufflers for your system= Look up Magnaflow universal round center to center 2.5'' mufflers, then look up 4-6'' diameter mufflers about 20''-22'' case length long. Yeah you could use one long one, but I really believe, one in to another is going to cut down the noise vs one long one. Don't forget about a resonator next to the tank either. Just to add, since you have a 23, it won't be real boomy as a 20 motor. You can look at my album pix for my mods. I have a few pix of my system on my alignment rack. Hope that helps you.

I don't plan on running a header ever. I'll either try cams and supporting mods without it, or I'll buy a different car. I've heard many cars with huge resonators and mufflers, and they are all loud still.

No header here, stock manifold and made 151 hp/144 tq at the wheels with the cosworth cams and tune, fs werks exhaust. I wish it was faster but I can't complain too much and the car is not what I'd define as loud at all (in fact my tires in combination with wind noise are what makes the car "loud"). I think the major plus is more the delivery of power as opposed to outright numbers...it pulls smoothly and has a nice linear feel to 7k without any real drop off at the top end like it felt in stock trim.

Nice! A noticeable difference vs stock with those mods? Who tuned it? Also which cossi cams do you have?

Yeah I'd say it was very noticeable, not huge power gains (I didn't expect anything insane) but response in power for the midrange and higher rpms was really a dramatic difference from stock. The tune was from FS Werks and the cams are the cosworth FSYD0222 and FSYD0173 (stage 1/mildest they offer as it works with the OEM valve springs).
