How long does it take to get a partial refund?

Backstory: I ordered and paid for a Focus 2012 Titanium last December 2012 and along with it an after-the-fact installation of a back-up camera integrated with MFT. After 7 months of waiting I gave up on it and asked for a refund from my dealer. This was July 03, 2012. I followed up a week later then followed up and followed up and followed up some more and I'm still following up right now. It's been more than two months and I'm still getting a "I'm following up with the accountant", "The accountant is in vacation" and "The accountant is on vacation AGAIN". I'm dealing with Coastal Ford Vancouver in Canada.

I tried Ford customer service and all I got was, "please continue to communicate with your dealership in order to resolve this issue". Mother of god, someone help me, I'm at my wits end. Got screwed over when they lied about the back-up camera and now I've getting screwed even more because I can't get my refund. The heck and I supposed to do now? You guys have any advice?

Just to be clear, you have your car but they never installed the camera after the purchase? If this was agreed to and was part of the deal for you to purchase your car, your dealer should of had you sign a "we owe" document which outlines what additional feature they promise to install at time of purchase, and should have some time limit in terms of how long they have to get the installation done. If they don't do it within that time, not only can you get a refund for what wasn't installed, you may be able to voice the whole contract and just give them back the car.

I had one of these documents with my dealer as part of the deal for me purchasing the car was that they would install an aftermarket navigation system.

Yes I have the car but the camera was never installed and yes it's explicitly stated in the we owe section. "Backup camera" etc. But there is no time limit. Dumb*ss move on my part I guess.

Bah, if they didn't put a time limit on there then you may be up a creek. But I know I would raise hell at that dealership if i was going through the same thing.

Do you have a small claims court in Canada? That's what I'd do here in the States. You have waited a reasonable time.

Agree the op has waited long enough, He has a right to either the camera, or a full refuund for the price of that.
Small claims court may be your answer if it exists in Canada.
The first thing I would do is tell the dealer, in a certified letter, wit the entire experience in detail, and a statement in the letter that they have fifteen days to refund your money or you are starting legal action.
If you have any TV stations which go to bat for consumners, contact them about it.
Tell the dealer you plan on advertising they are crooks, and that you are going to make it clear to any future buyer the dealership is not honest.

You have a Better Business Bureau. Go that route before trying a small claims court. It's a free service and it will work. I got a refund plus the refund's equivalent worth of gift certificates for something like 12 services (all I had done) at a jiffy lube type oil change place.
