Looks like Chevy/GMC will make the last of the American living-fossil van designs. Even before Sprinters started showing up here, I used to wonder why vans had such a high load floor and such a low roof. If you're making a box on wheels, easy loading and standing headroom seem like obvious improvements. Besides being awkward and inefficient to use, those things are ridiculously top-heavy. I don't know how many times I've heard or read about them rolling over at highway speed while loaded with 15 people. These junkers should have been replaced thirty years ago. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

they're getting rid of it because they're bringing the full sized transit van to america

There going to build the new ones in the same assemble line as the Econoline.in Avon Ohio.The Econoline has to be one of the oldest names for a vehicle.I had a 1962 I believe the name started in 1961.Also had a 1973 and a 1978 three of the 4 body styles

I had a '93 E250 with a 460. 10 mpg-- didn't matter if it was empty or pulling a trailer-- 10 mpg. It was a monster, but I kind of grew to like it. It was great for hauling my race car, but you were always aware how high up you were and that you could roll it into a ball at any moment.

That huge, ugly plastic/chrome grille on the current version is probably what really did it in.

I wonder how much trouble it is to look past that triangular window pillar. I also wonder what Alan Mually thinks about it since he thought the Transit Connect was sexy. At least this one will have a diesel. Now if they would only put a Duratorq in the TC....
