Now if it only came with a garage door opening mechanism to go with the opener...

That would require them including the House, or at least a Garage with the purchase of the car, and they aren't quite giving away homes on the street corner just yet. Its close in some neighborhoods with some forclosed houses going for next to nothing, but its still not feasible for everyone to own a house.

I hope you are getting yours free of charge since Ford's website says that it is standard. I almost can't believe they removed it as I'm sure many people (myself included) find it to be a useful feature. |

Can you provide the link? I absolutely think it's useful hence I've ordered it. For clarification purposes I have a Titanium. I figure if it is in any 2013 it would be in that configuration. |

The built in remote in the Ti is a great feature. Ford should make it an option in all Foci. Someone said they ordered it as a part for their 2013 Ti. Many, if not most, electrical options fit the same year and model because the wiring harness is stock. So when Ford did a dumb thing like bundling a variable speed wiper switch in my 2001 ZX-3 with a trim package I bought the wiper switch as a part after I bought the car and plugged it in in less than 5 minutes. It was a fraction of the package cost. If Ford is dropping the remote option they should at least list it as an accessory.

Right after my last post an item came on the morning news about vehicle theft. It turns out that the dumbest thing people do is leave a garage remote clipped to the visor (thieves look there right away) or somewhere else in their car in plain view. Thieves break in, grab the remote then grab your registration from the glove box that has your personal information including the address of your home where they open the garage door, drive in, close the door and then break in. Thieves don't usually leave thank you notes. But if you leave a garage remote on your visor they should. Now let me make sure I have this right. The built in remote on the 2012 Focus is not just a great convenience feature, it is a great security feature. Who is the genius at Ford who decided it was a bad idea?
