Unhappy Motor Question

Well, at 147,988 my 2000 Ford Focus motor finally blew up. I spoke to an engine rebuilder who suggested I would be better off buying a used motor than a rebuilt one because of low tolerances to rebuild, etc.. I ordered a used motor from a company in Wisconsin and it just arrived. I noticed immediately that this engine is labeled as a 2.0 16v Zetec and my motor is the standard 2.0 split port. I called the salvage yard and the guy told me that it is the same block, etc.. and that the bolt on accessories are the only difference. He told me that it had something to do with me being from CA (and the emmisions rules) and that the motor would work fine in my car. I'm a bit worried because it looks like a completely different top end. (Spark plugs on top of motor in the Zetec instead of the side of the motor like my split port). Does anyone know if this motor will work in my car? I'm wondering if this guy is just giving me the run around. Thanks a million.

Steve

That's miles ;) I commute 5 days a week 110 miles each way. I was actually alternating between two cars to keep the mileage down but the focus finally gave up.. ;-(

I doubt that your engine computer would be compatible with the Zetec engine. Also, your under hood wiring harnesses might be different.

That's what I was worried about. The most likely situation will be that this guy's probably going to stop returning my calls.. I ordered this motor in the beginning of Sept. and it just arrived today after a lot of threatening and complaints to the BBB... etc.... I just wanted to make sure I knew what I was talking about before I pushed the issue with him. Thank you for all the prompt replies.
